Accaparée par mon travail et mon roman, je manque de temps pour vous rédiger l'un de ces longs articles dont je raffole. Ce soir en revanche, je souhaitais partager avec vous un article co-écrit par le psychanalyste Adam Phillips et l'historienne Barbara Taylor et paru en 2009 dans The Guardian, journal de référence britannique de centre-gauche.
Cet article s'attaque à la perception que nos sociétés modernes ont de la gentillesse, en opposant deux points de vue : d'une part l'idée que la gentillesse serait inhérente à l'espèce humaine, d'autre part celle qu'elle serait l'apanage des faibles et des lâches. Je vous recommande vivement la lecture de cet article ; il peut paraître un peu long pour certains, mais je l'ai trouvé vraiment enrichissant.

Completely overwhelmed with my book writing and my day-job, I haven't enough time to prepare one of these looong articles that I like so much. However this evening I wanted to share with you an article written by both the Psychoanalyst Adam Phillips and the Historian Barbara Taylor, issued in 2009 in the british liberal newspaper The Guardian.
This article adresses the perception of modern societies about kindness from two points of view: on one hand that kindness belongs to man as he is naturally good deep inside ; on the other hand that kindness was invited by cowards to act as a justification for their weakness. I heartily recommend you this analysis. It's a bit long (not for avid readers), but I found it enlightening.
